Viridor’s Amie Stringer raises £75,000 for The Royal Marsden Hospital’s Oak Centre for Children and Young People

Amie Stringer, a member of Viridor’s Carbon Capture and Circular Solutions team, today presented a cheque for £75,000 to The Royal Marsden Hospital’s Oak Centre for Children and Young People. Viridor proudly matched donations raised by Amie through a charitable auction and runs, as well as through a digital campaign, bringing her total raised to £153,000.

Amie founded Every Step for Eleanor, a fundraiser raising money for charities supporting young people and their families who are facing cancer, following her daughter Eleanor’s cancer diagnosis. This funding will be used to support initiatives at The Oak Centre that bring joy to children undergoing cancer treatment through activities and experiences ranging from Music Therapy to Slime Workshops and programming with animals and wildlife. Amie continues to fundraise through Every Step for Eleanor and the remainder of the funds raised to date will be split between two charities Young Lives vs Cancer and Action Medical Research.

Amie Stringer, Procurement & Trading Director, said: “Viridor has been incredibly supportive during this process and I am delighted to be able to make this contribution to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity which has played such a phenomenal role in my daughter Eleanor’s treatment and provided support to our entire family through what is a gruelling and intense process. I hope children will be able to experience moments of joy, like Eleanor did, amidst treatment through the experiences the fabulous play team will be able to continue to provide. I remain committed to fundraising through Every Step for Eleanor and am extremely proud we already have so much momentum behind an incredibly important cause – supporting children and their families who are facing the battle of their lives fighting the awful disease that is cancer.”

Lee Hodder, Managing Director, Carbon Capture and Circular Solutions, added: “At Viridor, one of our core values is we believe in each other. The way Amie, and in particular Eleanor, have approached the challenges head-on with optimism and determination has been truly inspiring.  I am very pleased we have been able to support Amie and her family. We are incredibly proud of Amie’s fundraising efforts for such an important cause and her commitment to bringing joy to children within the community at the Royal Marsden’s Oak Centre for Children and Young People.”
